Importance and Benefits
Learning is a multifaceted process, and students often encounter challenges that may not always
be apparent. At Paras Public School, we believe that the holistic development of a child is
achieved through the combined efforts of the student, parent and teacher. These three integral
stakeholders working together produce the best educational outcomes.
The Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM) plays a crucial role in bridging the communication gap between
these key individuals. It opens a channel of dialogue where parents become active partners in
their child's education. When parents actively participate, they can positively influence their
child’s academic performance.
We understand that the collaboration between home and school is essential for a child’s growth.
Parents play a direct role in fostering their child's development both at home and at school.
PTMs offer an opportunity for parents and teachers to share observations and insights on a
child's progress, ensuring a comprehensive approach to their learning. Through these meetings,
parents gain a deeper understanding of their child’s behavior, attitude, learning style, and
relationship with peers and teachers. This collaboration helps to create effective strategies
that address the unique needs of the child.
Why Does Paras Public School Emphasize Parent-Teacher Meetings?
Building a Strong Relationship: PTMs provide an excellent opportunity for parents and
teachers to establish a strong, positive relationship, which is key to a child's holistic
development. This partnership helps to understand and address the unique needs of the child.
Promoting Two-Way Communication: Open communication between parents and teachers is
invaluable. By discussing a child’s progress, both at home and school, the parent and teacher
can work together to address any concerns and encourage continued development.
Insightful Observations: PTMs allow both parties to share important insights about
the child, including social behavior, academic progress, and personal growth. Teachers share
classroom observations, while parents contribute valuable information regarding the child’s
behavior at home, hobbies, and interests.
Identifying Strengths and Weaknesses: PTMs offer a platform for both parents and
teachers to discuss areas where the child excels and where improvement is needed. This open
exchange allows for the development of strategies to support the child’s growth.
Fostering Mutual Understanding: It is not just about addressing complaints, but about
working together to ensure the child receives the best possible support. Both parents and
teachers focus on the child’s well-being and learning outcomes, making PTMs an essential part of
the educational process.
How is PTM Conducted at Paras Public School?
Pre-PTM:
Paras Public School understands the busy schedules of parents, which is why PTMs are held on
Saturdays. To ensure maximum participation, students are informed about upcoming PTMs a week in
advance. They are provided with consent forms, which help teachers confirm attendance. If a
parent is unable to attend on the scheduled date, alternate arrangements are made for them to
meet with the teacher at a later time.
PTM Day:
On the day of the PTM, parents meet with the class teacher and subject teachers to discuss their
child's progress. Key areas covered include:
Punctuality, discipline, and class behavior
In-depth academic performance
Strengths and areas for improvement
Individual subject performance feedback from teachers
Teachers also discuss the methodologies they will employ to help the child improve and maintain
transparency. After the discussion, parents sign the PTM register, where they can provide
feedback and suggestions regarding their child’s progress.
Parents are also encouraged to meet the counselor , which focuses on the mental and physical
well-being of students, ensuring that both academic and emotional needs are met.
Sports Development:
At Paras Public School, we
place great emphasis on sports and physical fitness. During PTMs, sports coaches are available
to share insights into the child’s performance in sports, celebrate achievements, and discuss
areas for improvement. They also welcome suggestions from parents to improve the child’s
athletic development.
Post-PTM:
For parents unable to attend the scheduled PTM due to unavoidable circumstances, alternate
meetings are arranged. These meetings follow the same process as the PTM, allowing parents to
meet with the class teacher, subject teachers, and the counsellor.
At Paras Public School, we take PTMs seriously because we believe the joint
effort of parents and teachers is fundamental to the holistic development of our
students. Together, we shape the future of our young learners.
